Our last cards are played in the Drôme! And … we didn’t win the game. Our last plan was worked out to the end during the last few months, with a group of friends in Drôme.
We had several meetings to talk about our dreams and the plan was becoming more and more real. We found a large farm in La Roche-sur-grâne with 45 ha of agricultural land and wood. The building needed to be renovated for a big part but there was a potential for several families.
We met the owner several times, discussed with ‘terre de liens’ about the possibilities the buy (a part of) the land, we started the negotiations and we made a final proposal! But there were two other projects in the game. And the owner chose to sell to a couple who want to make gites … End of the plan.
Conclusion: it is too difficult to find something in the Drôme, too expensive because this region is too attractive.
In the meantime we got two little goats from the farm where work this year. They were for the meat but they are so cute that we kept them … Coco and Tima! We put them on a cord so they can eat the grass around our house. The cat family has grown too. Flip, the mama, had 6 little ones! We kept one as a friend for Caillou. He is called cookie-chataigne!

Okay, let’s continue about the installation! To the farm in Ariège we said no, the hesitation was too important. But who has been motivating us since February with short texts of the progress in her project? It’s Julie in the Pyrenees-Orientales! She is still looking for partners!
We met her already when we lived there, three years ago. Since then, she has built her project and is looking for land around Mosset, a small village not far from Prades. She does not want to start alone and after reading our blog, she wanted to meet us. In February, we went to see her. There was immediately a good feeling between us. But she hadn’t found a lot of land yet and we didn’t really want to go back to live in the Pyrénées-Orientales at that time.
It is just before Christmas that we decided to embark on this adventure with Julie and her boyfriend Manu. After having them on the phone several times it seems more and more that we have the same ideas and desires. And the Pyrénées-Orientales are nice nevertheless. There is a whole bunch of old anarchists from my revolutionary choir waiting for us to start the choir again 🙂 There are mountains, the sea and hot springs. Mosset seems a nice village. And we want to start our farm with gooooooats!
P.S. We already choose the breed, wow! We will take rove goats!
